Authorised and regulated by the FSA to introduce investment to UK businesses, Venture4th has strong ties with a wide range of funding sources for UK technology ventures.
Our access to sources of funds ranges from bank debt (including the DTI Small Firms Loan Scheme), mezzanine finance, asset-based financing through to private equity from business angels, high net worth individuals, investor clubs and venture capitalists.
Our approach is to work closely with the management team to ascertain what type of investor and investment will best support their goals to build value and realisable wealth in the business. Then, working as an extension to the management team we are able to groom the business ready for presentation to investors. Typically we would undertake the following as part of this process;
- Establish the motivation from the management team for external investment and the far-reaching changes it will mean
- Review the business model, market space, financial history and commercial positioning
- Establish a valuation range and funding requirement for the business
- Prepare the investor collateral including the business plan, executive summary, presentation, financial schedules
Every growing business will have its areas of weakness which often become critical to resolve when negotiating with new investors. For example it may be crucial to completing an injection of funds that the business bolsters its Finance, Sales or Marketing functions.
To address these issues before they can become significant negotiation points or slow the funding process, we work to identify and address them early on with our clients. We are able to provide the missing key skills through trusted Venture4th associates, place members of the Venture4th team in to act as “virtual” executives, develop marketing and commercial plans or provide operational support and much more.
Once a source of funding is identified and the process of closing a deal is underway, we provide the essential transactional support and additional management bandwidth, allowing the founding team to get on with running the business with the minimum of distraction. Following investment we can also continue managing investor relations and lead any longer term marketing to identify sources of next round funding. |
